Steve, Justa, everything is fine. It's difficult to explain, but I'm a little tired of being the bad guy, and I'm not sure that I can continue to write when people keep getting upset with me. I know that people aren't going to like what I write always, but the attacks are more on my character than anything and that bothers me a lot. I'm sure I'm being overly sensitive and defensive but... when I started doing this, it was a way to share information that I had because I was part of a great affiliate, and just to show people that you don't need to be firebreathers to enjoy this and have success with it. Now, I just don't know if I can withstand the negative aspects of this. People's spouses/so's have gotten upset with me, people have been told they're not allowed to talk to me or read me, and people have asked me not to write about certain topics and it's just a lot. So I just need to figure out if this is something I can continue to do...

Let me be the first to say...

Don't let the words of a few affect the masses!

99% of the people on your blog love it and want zero censorship on topics (that's why its great!). There are lots of crazies out there so just keep on keeping on and realize any attacks from them are redonkulous (to steal your word!).

Btw... did you hit 26?

Huh?

WE WANT KATIE BACK

WE WANT KATIE BACK

WE WANT KATIE BACK

You get the general idea...

Please don't quit, I love your blog, crossfit is a lonely enough programme and you are like a neighbour to me.

I had a blog in the past where I had crazy folks posting regularly and trying to contact me and my wife! I really can't see anything controversial on here at all!

Ok...monologue over for now.

NO NO NO!
I'm speaking for all the others. I'm lucky enough to get to see Katie at CFOT, but I don't get to talk to you when we're working out. I love reading your reactions to our workouts and I also love relying on your blog to findout what we did in the blue room on days that I don't make it!!!

You don't offend me.. or my boyfriends I swear!!!!

KATIE COME BACK!!!!!

As I have scrolled back through many of your blog posts, I can't seem to find the "offensive" posts.

Most of your blogging is about YOUR Crossfit experience. Who cares what other people have to think or say about it?

Perhaps I don't know all the context and it is somehow "hurtful" to others that read this blog, but somehow I really doubt that....

IMHO, don't stop blogging (Something you clearly enjoy) just because someone doesn't agree with your opinions. They have the choice to read and participate in your blog or totally ignore it.

Just my two cents....

Tell whoever is being an insecue anal retentive ass hole Keturah says to "F%$& Off". There are other important things in this world people should be more concerned about that worrying about a blog that expresses ones opinion. It's like a male being offended by female strippers but at the same time every Saturday night he is at the strip club. WHAT THE HELL? If you don't like what you are reading on Katie's blog, go read the classified in the newspaper or some shit and back off.

Katie is my friend, we work out together. We laugh and cry together and no one is going to mess with her from cybershit. So Katie, get back to doing what you love to do and blog away,,,people are waiting to read and be enlightened from your opinions.

My 2 cents.
Be true to yourself.
Delete attacks instantly.
Criticism tells more about the person giving it than the person its aimed at...
A tough one; don't take things personally...

In all honesty, I see you as entertaining and outgoing, but I've never sensed anything in your words that should upset anyone like that. Of course, I have no idea where or what you're doing with your comments elsewhere, but I just don't see it.

I've had a past blog where spouses...my own included...misconstrued a lot of silly banter and a whole lot of trouble ensued. I've come to learn trouble when I see it, and I just don't see it going on with your blog or comments.

Perhaps some people's lack of confidence in themselves allows them to see a threat where none exists. Hopefully, you will feel comfortable to do what works for you, and if others can't deal with it, so be it. You can't make everyone happy, nor is it your responsibility to do so.

I agree with everyone else 100%. I've can't believe anyone would find anything at all offensive about your blog. Ever.

What a hypersensitive culture we live in! People seem to go out of their way to be offended by everything. You are obviously a talented CrossFitter and a talented writer/storyteller. As long as you have a passion for doing both, keep doing them. Who cares what someone else thinks, this is still a free country and you can say whatever you like.

Being creative is hard. It's also hard to put your labor of love out there and have people take cheap shots at it (especially when it's something they can't do themselves.) Just remember, creative people make something out of nothing -- if someone else doesn't like it that's their problem, not yours.

Take all the time that you need. You obviously have a lot of people who care about you and who enjoy your blog. It sounds like there are a few that need a roundhouse kick to the face.

I agree with everyone as well take the time you need but remember that there are a lot of use that like your blog. Also remember to do things for yourself and if there are super conservative people that can’t have an open mind to other people’s thoughts and ideas then they should move along to a safer site.

Finally I agree with others that have stated they can not see what you have written that are controversial or suggestive. I write a great deal about issues that most people don’t like to discuss and even when I speak about things that others discuss my point of view is not always the same as others and the way I say it can be extremely raw and to the point. But that’s what makes life interesting; vary points of view. But if the backlash I get isn’t productive then I don’t give it a second thought as it is not worth my time.

Hope you come back soon.

Guys, you're making me a little on the choked up side today... thanks...

I saw Katie's name on the board with a 29 next to it for pullups. I was so happy for you...I know how hard you've been working for that goal. And how hard you must have been on yourself to not make that last one to get 30. You need to make sure you took the time to enjoy the accomplishment!

I really look forward to your writing every day.

Hey I know sharing your CG experience with the masses via the blog is a passion. You'll be back ;) or so we all hope.

Katie said...

Darcy, I thought you meant CG (Cover Girl)... I kinda liked that thought... maybe Cover Girl should call me... ;)

Laura, that's not a 9 (sadly). It's only 24. :( But I'm hoping to get there.
